Hostel La Magdalena Monastery
Accommodation for pilgrims on the Camino de Santiago, in a unique historic setting
A hostel with history on the Camino de Santiago

The hostel opens its doors in a monastery built in the early 12th century, almost at the same time as the town of Sarria, whose history has always been closely linked to the Camino de Santiago.
Services at the Monastery
Pilgrims can make use of the common areas, where they can prepare light meals using the microwave, as well as use the kitchen utensils. For greater convenience, the hostel also has vending machines for drinks and snacks. In addition, there is a self-service laundry.
La Magdalena Monastery on the French Way
The French Way is the most popular route to Compostela, among other reasons because it was the connection with distant territories during the first years of peregrinations. This past is reflected at the monasterios surrounding the Way once arrived to Galicia.
Sacred constructions that were the seed of larger settlements and that structured the economic and social life of inland Galicia. The pilgrim hostel of the Monastery of La Magdalena reconnects with its original spirit; in fact, its entrance is located directly on the Camino de Santiago. More integrated would be impossible.

We can apreciate its romanesque origin, although on the XIX century it suffers the most important construction works to give the monastery its nowadays aspect.
This historic setting, rich in meaning, offers pilgrims a different kind of experience, where rest and heritage come together naturally in every stay.
Staying at this hostel not only allows you to take a break on the Camino, but also to connect with the tradition and history that have accompanied pilgrims for centuries.
Privileged location in Sarria, with unique views and direct access to the Camino de Santiago
One of the advantages of this hostel for pilgrims is the proximity to the village center. The old quarter of Sarria is just 5 minutes walking far from the monastery and the railway station just 10 minutes.

Moreover, Sarria’s distinctive profile —a valley nestled among moderately steep hills— can be clearly appreciated from the Monastery of La Magdalena. This pilgrim hostel boasts stunning views over the entire town.
Among the facilities this hostel offers to our guests is the accommodation on double bank beds on three rooms. Each room has a mixed shared bathroom.
